Here you’ll find the important information about lessons, bookings, payments and cancellations with Brass & Beyond, as well as information relating to Little Musicians.
I’ve kept everything together in one place so you can easily refer back to it whenever you need to. If you’re unsure about anything, you’re always welcome to get in touch.
Private brass lessons are arranged following an initial enquiry, allowing us to discuss the student’s experience, goals, preferred lesson length and availability.
The first lesson is treated as a trial lesson for both the student and teacher. It gives the student the opportunity to experience a lesson with me and see whether my teaching approach feels right for them, while also allowing me to get to know the student, understand their goals and make sure I can offer the support they need.
Following the trial lesson, lessons can be booked individually or for a full teaching term. Lessons are available in 30, 45 and 60 minute sessions, with full-term bookings paid in advance receiving a 10% discount.
Home tuition is available across selected areas of North Somerset, with teaching days organised by location.
Music theory tuition is available as individual tuition, small-group tuition or as a Theory & Musicianship Add-On alongside regular brass lessons.
Individual theory lessons are available in 30 and 45 minute sessions. Group theory lessons are 30 minutes and are designed for small groups of 2–4 learners working at a similar level.
Theory & Musicianship Add-Ons are available in 15 or 30 minute sessions and take place alongside a regular brass lesson, providing dedicated time to develop theory and musicianship skills.
As with private brass tuition, the first standalone theory lesson is treated as a trial lesson for both the student and teacher. Following the trial, individual lessons can be booked as required or for a full teaching term, with full-term bookings paid in advance receiving a 10% discount.
Home tuition is available across selected areas of North Somerset. Teaching days are organised by location, helping to keep travel between lessons manageable and allowing me to offer consistent lesson times where possible.
Availability will depend on your location and my current teaching schedule. When you submit a lesson enquiry, please include your area or postcode so I can let you know which teaching days may be available.
Once a regular lesson time has been agreed, this will normally remain your allocated lesson time unless we arrange otherwise.
I also teach brass and music theory lessons at The Note Warehouse in Yatton.
Lessons held at The Note Warehouse are booked and priced separately through The Note Warehouse and are therefore not covered by Brass & Beyond's private home-tuition pricing, term discounts or booking arrangements.
Please contact or book through The Note Warehouse directly for information about availability and lesson prices.
Brass Tuition
Payment arrangements will be confirmed when your lesson time is agreed. Individual lessons are paid at the standard lesson rate, while full-term bookings are paid in advance and receive the applicable term discount.
Your first lesson is treated as a trial lesson and is charged at the standard individual lesson rate. There is no commitment to continue with regular lessons following the trial.
Little Musicians
Little Musicians sessions are booked and paid for through the online booking system. Payment is required at the time of booking to secure your child’s place.
Students who would like to reserve a regular lesson time for the full teaching term can choose to book and pay for the term in advance.
Full-term bookings receive a 10% discount on the standard individual lesson rate. The total cost will be calculated according to the number of teaching weeks in that particular term and confirmed before payment is made.
Your regular lesson time will be reserved for you throughout the agreed teaching term. Any dates on which I am unavailable due to pre-arranged commitments will be communicated before the start of the term and will not be included in the term fee.
Full-term bookings are subject to the cancellation and make-up lesson policy outlined below.
Private Brass Tuition
Where two or more siblings have private brass lessons booked consecutively at the same address, the first lesson is charged at the standard rate and each additional sibling receives a 10% discount on their lesson.
The sibling discount applies to back-to-back lessons only and is intended to reflect the reduced travel time between students.
Little Musicians
Additional siblings attending the same Little Musicians session can join for £5 per session, rather than the standard £8 session price. The sibling rate is applied when two places are booked together through the online booking system.
Discounts cannot be combined with other offers or discounts unless otherwise stated.
Music Theory Groups
Group Music Theory sessions are available for small groups of 2–4 students at a reduced rate of £12 per person for a 30-minute session. Groups will usually be arranged between students working at a similar level so that sessions can be tailored appropriately.
Theory & Musicianship Add-Ons
Students having regular brass tuition can add dedicated theory and musicianship time to their lesson:
15-minute add-on — £7
30-minute add-on — £14
Add-ons are designed to complement instrumental tuition and can be used to develop areas such as music reading, rhythm, notation, aural understanding, theory knowledge and general musicianship.
Using discounts together
Discounts and special rates cannot normally be combined. Where more than one discount could apply, the most appropriate applicable rate will be confirmed when the lesson arrangement is agreed.
I understand that plans can change. If you need to cancel or rearrange an individually booked lesson, please give at least 24 hours’ notice wherever possible.
Cancellations made with at least 24 hours’ notice can be rearranged to another suitable time, subject to availability.
Lessons cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice will normally still be charged at the full lesson rate.
If you are unable to attend a lesson, please let me know as soon as possible.
Students who have booked and paid for a full teaching term may rearrange up to two lessons per term, provided at least 24 hours’ notice is given.
Make-up lessons are subject to availability and must be fitted around the existing teaching schedule. While I will do my best to find a suitable alternative, a particular day or time cannot be guaranteed.
Any additional lessons missed by the student during the term will normally be forfeited and cannot be refunded or credited.
Any unused make-up lesson allowance expires at the end of the relevant teaching term and cannot be carried forward into a future term.
Any planned dates on which I am unavailable will be communicated before the beginning of the teaching term and will not be included in the term fee.
If I need to cancel a scheduled lesson unexpectedly, for example due to illness, I will give as much notice as reasonably possible.
The lesson will be rearranged at a mutually suitable time wherever possible. If a suitable alternative cannot be arranged, the lesson fee will be refunded or credited, as appropriate.
Lessons cancelled by me will not count towards a student’s two make-up lessons for the term.
I understand that occasionally circumstances arise which are outside of anyone’s control.
If illness, an emergency or another exceptional circumstance affects your ability to attend a lesson, please get in touch as soon as possible. These situations can be considered individually, and I will always try to find a fair and reasonable solution where possible.
Any flexibility offered in exceptional circumstances will be considered on a case-by-case basis and does not alter the standard cancellation policy.
Little Musicians sessions are booked and paid for through the online booking system. Payment is required at the time of booking to secure your child’s place.
Sessions can be booked individually at £8 per child, or for the full term with a 10% discount on the total term price.
Places are subject to availability and each group has a limited capacity. Please ensure you book the group most appropriate for your child’s stage of development.
If you are unable to attend a Little Musicians session, please let me know as soon as possible.
Individual session bookings are normally non-refundable if you are unable to attend. For full-term bookings, missed sessions cannot normally be refunded, credited or transferred to another term.
If I need to cancel a Little Musicians session, I will give as much notice as reasonably possible. Where a session cannot be rearranged, the affected session will be refunded or credited as appropriate.
Exceptional circumstances can always be discussed individually.
Additional siblings attending the same Little Musicians session can join for £5 per session, rather than the standard £8 session price.
When booking two children together, the sibling discount will be applied through the online booking system.
Each child attending should have their own place booked so that session numbers can be managed safely.
All children attending Little Musicians must be accompanied by a parent or responsible adult throughout the session.
Parents and carers remain responsible for their child’s supervision and wellbeing during the session and are encouraged to join in with the musical activities alongside them.
Please let me know before the session if there is anything I should be aware of that may help your child participate comfortably and enjoy the session.
The safety and wellbeing of every child and young person I work with is extremely important to me. I hold a current Enhanced DBS certificate and aim to provide a safe, supportive and appropriate environment for all learners.
For home tuition where the student is under 18, a parent or responsible adult must remain at the property for the duration of the lesson.
Little Musicians sessions are designed for children to attend alongside a parent or responsible adult, who remains responsible for their child throughout the session.
Any safeguarding concerns will be treated seriously and handled appropriately.
Personal information provided through enquiries, bookings or lesson arrangements will only be used for purposes connected with Brass & Beyond, such as responding to enquiries, arranging lessons, managing bookings and communicating important information.
Information will not be shared with third parties unless this is necessary to provide a service, required by law, or there is a safeguarding reason for doing so.
Only information reasonably required for teaching, booking and communication purposes will be collected and retained.
Brass & Beyond does not photograph or film students during individual tuition.
Photography and filming are also not routinely carried out during Little Musicians sessions. This allows children and their grown-ups to enjoy the sessions without feeling that they may be photographed or recorded.
If photography or filming were ever planned for a particular activity, parents or carers would be informed in advance and appropriate consent would be obtained before identifiable images of a child were taken or used.
Promotional material for Brass & Beyond will not normally feature children attending lessons or Little Musicians sessions.
I want Brass & Beyond to be as welcoming and accessible as possible. If you or your child has an additional need, disability or anything else that may affect how they take part in lessons or Little Musicians, you're very welcome to let me know.
Where reasonably possible, I will adapt activities, communication or teaching approaches to help each learner feel comfortable and able to participate.
If you're unsure whether a lesson or session will be suitable, please get in touch before booking so we can discuss individual needs and any adjustments that may be helpful.
If you're unsure about any of the information above, or have a question about lessons, bookings or Little Musicians, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
I'm always happy to discuss individual circumstances or answer any questions before you book.
